Please read the sections below for more information on the summer internship housing for each Boston Program.
Housing at Northeastern University
Discovery Internship students live in The West Village Complex, a centrally air-conditioned state-of-the-art residence hall consisting of beautifully appointed suites. Students reside in 4-6 person suites containing double and single bedrooms, living room, kitchen with full-size refrigerator, and a private bathroom. The rooms feature study desks, high-speed internet service, and ample drawer and closet space. In-house facilities include a laundry room, television/DVD lounges and Discovery Internship offices.
Location
Located in the heart of Boston, Northeastern University is the “Ultimate Urban Campus”. It is a university transformed - from a night school at a local YMCA in 1898 to one of the nation’s top private research institutions. Northeastern has spent $500 million on new facilities including classrooms, a world-class fitness center, and eleven new residence halls. “When people talk about the hot places to go to college in the Boston area, Northeastern is now mentioned along with Harvard and Tufts Universities and MIT,” hailed The Chronicle of Higher Education.
Health, Safety, and Security
The health, safety and security of each student is our primary concern. Doctor appointments are arranged with the Northeastern University Student Health Services. For 24 hour/emergency care, students are taken to the nearby Beth Israel or Children’s Hospital of Boston. Summer Discovery staff make all medical appointments, transport and accompany students to medical facilities, obtain prescription medications and notify parents after medical visits. Discovery Internship resident counselors live in the same secure residence hall as the students. For additional safety, there are daily/nightly sign-ins and room checks. In keeping with a collegiate atmosphere, students are permitted to walk on campus and in our “home area” of Boston, but are required to be in small groups.
Meals
You will have two meals per day at the residence dining hall (1 meal on Saturdays and Sundays). Interns are responsible for their lunch on workdays.
